Food Exports
The demand for African foodstuffs in Europe and America is rising due to increasing number of Africans who live there and also the use of these produce as a raw material for other processed foods. There is huge opportunity for new african exporters and producers who wishes to expand their operations to Europe.
Background:
A company is expanding to the European Union. There are risks of product rejection and detaining of the consignment as reported by the EU Food Safety Standard Agency. The company needs to overcome various regulatory hurdles to be able to penetrate the EU market. The hurdles are border rejection, and mass destruction of substandard product. Therefore, an analysis is done on EU data in order to understand the risks involved.
Conclusions
The following conclusions and recommendation can be drawn from the analysis
1. The month of December has the highest number of Products Flagging.
2. The highest number of rejection between 1999 and 2019 comes in the month of October
3. Since 2016, the number of border rejections has increased greatly. This means the EU is now adopting stricter with their regulations
4. Greece rejects the highest number of products at the border compared to Netherland, Germany, UK and Italy
5. Sudan receives the highest number of exports rejections
6. Nuts, nut products and seeds seems to be the most exported product from Africa to the EU
